Amanda Wilson

Former Editor, Sydney Morning Herald
Former Chair, NSW Crime Stoppers

‘I’ve known Grant professionally for many years, both as a journalist when he was running ACA and I was Editor of the SMH, and later when, in his role with NSW Police, he sat on the Board of NSW Crime Stoppers, which I chaired.’

‘Grant is a terrific person to have at your side in a crisis – whether yours is a reputational or stakeholder issue or something like a pandemic which affects millions.’

‘He is a consummate communications professional who overlays all his work with great common sense – and that’s a commodity many CEO’s and Boards of Directors could make better use of.’

Hedley Thomas

National Chief Correspondent
and investigative podcast journalist
The Australian

I came to know Grant during my investigations for The Teacher’s Pet podcast which highlighted how a cold blooded killer, Chris Dawson, got away with the murder of his wife Lyn, and the exploitation of a school girl.

Grant was the senior executive adviser to the then police chief, Mick Fuller.

Grant was a calm and measured influence and a consummate professional, ensuring that a working relationship between police and myself could be forged with an end game of serving the interests of justice, while not affecting our independence.

We have reflected on how this contributed meaningfully to Dawson’s conviction in 2022 for Lyn’s murder, and a further conviction in 2023 for his unlawful sexual relationship with a school girl.

Grant has a highly sophisticated understanding of hard-hitting journalism, media, and the myriad ways for corporates or individuals facing a media crisis or a blow to reputations to take positive action.

Graham Annesley

Executive General Manager,
Elite Football
National Rugby League

Grant and I worked closely together over several years at the NRL (National Rugby League). In his role as Executive General Manager of Media and Communications, I relied heavily on his advice and guidance to steer us through many high-profile public issues.

Grant’s calm demeanour and common sense approach were invaluable in protecting and enhancing the reputation and image of the organisation.

On a personal level, Grant was incredibly easy to work with. He always managed to find the right balance between treating issues with the seriousness they deserved, while always maintaining a healthy sense of humour to keep things in perspective. He knows how to cut through and get results.
